Chairpersons Update
Round 2 of the second round and we are off to Stratford and Okaiawa. All our teams are affected with injuries and the boys are really going to have to dig deep this week to pick up wins.
I personally think this will be the hardest game for our Egmont Seeds Premier side to date. Stratford Eltham at home on a wet track, they will be like pigs in mud and they have a solid pack who do not mind putting their heads in dark places. The Tukapa pack will need to really muscle up and match them or it will be a long day at the office. If Potty can use his boot to steer us around the paddock I am sure we can keep our winning streak alive.
The NZ Sparky Div 1 team are sitting level on the standings with Stratford Eltham but will need to dig really deep due to injuries to them and the Premiers. If anyone is keen on a run for these guys turn up Thursday at 6pm, we are in need of loose forwards and locks.
Our Arabac Colts have got a big task in front of them with Stratford Eltham sitting on top of the Colts table, it is the perfect time to pick up a win against a team above them and move themselves up the table. These guys have also had a lot of season ending injuries but still go out and give it 100% each game, if they can cut back on basic mistakes the win will be on the cards.
As for Ash’s Bar backbones the Gardiner Plumbing Div 2, they are off to Okaiawa and as of Tuesday they have strong numbers getting on the bus. To me that’s a win in its own right, who knows they might pick up another win while enjoying this Bus trip.
News flash from NZ Forestry Bantams U85’s, we have now been defaulted to by the Surburbs team and will move through to the second round against Marist at home with a date still to be decided. At this rate we will be in the final without playing a game. I know our boys and the 10 managers with all the supporters were really looking forward to this away leg tour and Clouty had put together a great off field activity list for Sunday night, but for now we will put the boys back on ice and allow them to eat for a couple of weeks before building into Round 2.
Our new Corporate box at halfway has been a huge hit and is now fully booked for 2021, unless we pick up a couple of extra games at the end of the season. But we do have an area available at the end of the field in our Ash’s Bar on Tour hosted by the Club Captain Mr D Green. This area can also be fully catered to your needs. Get in touch if you are keen.
This week all the teams and supporters will make their own way to Stratford and the Div 2 boys will leave Tukapa on the bus at 11.15pm.
So I will see you all in Stratford dressed in Blue and White and it's likely you will need an umbrella (you can buy a Tukapa umbrella on Friday night for $50 from top bar).
A couple of dates to look forward to in the near future:
Pomare’s 150th game 19th June against Inglewood
3rd July Netball/Rugby Mid-Winter Beach night with mechanical surf board
