Tukapa Rugby Club Newsletter - Spring Is Here And There Is Plenty Happening At The Chook House
One Club. One Family.
Kia ora Tukapa whānau,
The rugby season may be finished for another year, but there is certainly no slowing down around the Chook House.
As we head into spring and summer, there is plenty happening around the club with Tukapa Touch, the Darts Christmas Big Stage Final, Club of Origin 10s, Club 7s and our new Tukapa Fishing Competition.
We are also continuing to look at ways to strengthen the club financially and make sure we have a strong and sustainable future for the next generation of Tukapa players and families.

Tukapa Touch is Back
After more than 35 years of Tukapa Touch, the tradition continues.
Tukapa Touch is about exactly what it has always been about. Getting together with good mates, having a run around, having a laugh and enjoying a few beers afterwards.
This year we want to make sure everyone understands what they are signing up for.
If your team is entering as a social team, then it is just that.
There are no winners.
There are no referees.
It is not about arguing over calls or taking the game too seriously.
It is about good mates, good times and Tukapa being Tukapa.
This is a family night out and a chance to get together, have a run around and have a bloody good time.
So get your mates, workmates, family or old rugby crew together and get a team entered.
No winners. No referees. Just social touch, good mates and good times.

Club Of Origin 10's
Club of Origin 10s is back for 2026.
This exciting one-day, 10-a-side tournament is all about helping players transition from school rugby into the club game, while also creating an opportunity for players to connect or reconnect with their junior club.
Saturday 17 October 2026
Sanders Park, Tukapa
There will be a number of grades involved across the tournament, with clubs from around the region already expressing interest in entering teams.
It is a great initiative for helping keep young players involved in rugby and creating a pathway from school rugby into the club environment.
Club 7's
Club 7s is also coming to Sanders Park on Saturday 31 October.
The grades include Competitive Men, Social Men, Women and Colts Men under 21.
It is another great opportunity to get players back together, bring some new faces into the club and enjoy a day of rugby at Tukapa.
We are also looking at getting a Tukapa women's team together for the Taranaki 7s competition, with trainings getting underway in October.
If you are interested in playing, get in touch and get involved.

Tukapa Darts Big Stage Christmas Final
The darts have been flying over the past eight weeks and we are now heading towards the Tukapa Darts Big Stage Christmas Party.
- Saturday 12 December 2026
- Repacharge from 1:00pm
- Big Stage kicks off from 5:00pm
- Tukapa Clubrooms
The Top 8 players from our Christmas series will battle it out on the big stage for the ultimate Tukapa darts bragging rights.
But this night is not just about the darts.
After the big stage action we will be turning it into a proper Tukapa Christmas party, with karaoke, best dressed prizes, drink specials and supper provided.
So whether you are throwing darts or just coming down to support the players, get this one in the diary.
Dress up, bring your mates and let's finish the darts season with a bang.

The Tukapa Fishing Competition
We are also excited to announce a new event for the Tukapa calendar, our Tukapa Fishing Competition.
This is being put together as a great day out for the Tukapa community, combining fishing, music, brews and good mates.
Whether you are a serious fisherman, a backyard fisherman or someone who just enjoys getting out on the boat with a few mates, this event is about having a bloody good time.
We want this to become an annual Tukapa event that people look forward to every year.
Importantly, this is a fundraiser for the future development of Tukapa Rugby and Sports Club.
Every dollar raised will go back into the club and help us continue improving our facilities and providing better opportunities for our players, members and families.
So get your crew together, dust off the boat, sort the rods and get ready for a great day on the water.
Fishing Competition Sponsorship
We are currently looking for businesses to get behind the fishing competition as sponsors.
Our preferred sponsorship is prizes for the day, whether that is products for the prize table, cash sponsorship, vouchers or services, fishing equipment, food, hospitality or major prizes.
We also have some of our existing suppliers offering significant discounts across their product ranges, meaning cash sponsorship can go even further.
Cash sponsorship can be used with these suppliers to purchase additional prizes, allowing us to build a much bigger prize pool for the day.
This is not just about putting your business name on a poster.
Your support helps us raise funds that will go directly back into Tukapa Rugby and Sports Club and its future development.
In return, sponsors will receive exposure through the fishing competition, Tukapa social media, event promotion, signage and the club's wider communication channels.
We want to build this into a major annual event and would love to have local businesses along for the ride from the beginning.
If your business would like to sponsor the fishing competition, or you have a product, service or prize you would like to contribute, please get in touch.

A Special Thank You To Everyone Who Supported The Belau Fundraiser
It was a privilege to recently welcome the Belau family to the Tukapa clubrooms and present them with a $4,000 cheque representing money raised by the rugby community.
It was a really special moment for everyone involved and a great reminder of what our rugby community is all about.
Orisi Belau has a special history with Tukapa, and the championship flags hanging in the background of the presentation are a reminder of the part he played during his time at the club.
A huge thank you to everyone who supported the fundraiser and helped us give something back to Orisi, his wife and their daughters.
The support shown by the rugby community has been pretty special.
One Club. One Family.

Jersey Return
A reminder to all players that we need all Tukapa jerseys returned to the club.
A jersey return box has now been placed at the front door of the clubrooms.
If you still have a Tukapa jersey at home, please drop it into the return box so we can get everything back and accounted for.
Thanks to everyone who has already returned theirs.

Building The Future Of Tukapa
The fishing competition is just one of the ways we are looking at creating additional income streams for the club.
Our goal is simple.
Build a stronger, more sustainable Tukapa for the future.
Money raised through events like the fishing competition will help us continue investing in club facilities, player development, junior rugby, equipment, grounds and infrastructure, events and member experiences, and future projects around the Chook House.
Tukapa has always been built by people putting their hand up and getting behind the club.
That has not changed.
Thank You To Our Sponsors
A huge thank you to all of the businesses that continue to support Tukapa.
Our sponsors make a massive difference to what we can provide for our players and members, from junior rugby through to our senior teams and club facilities.
Please remember to support the businesses that support Tukapa.
When you see a Tukapa sponsor, give them your business and let them know we appreciate their support.
